The benefits of a healthy amount of self-confidence are many. When you’re self-assured, it’s easier to achieve your goals, others are naturally drawn toward your charisma, and you feel more comfortable in any situation. Life is easier with self-confidence.

Do you wish you had greater self-confidence? Luckily, increased self-confidence is just a week away!

Add these easy habits to your daily routines and feel the difference:

  1. Wear clothes that help you feel confident. Try an experiment. Pick two outfits – one should be made up of torn, old, or faded clothes, the other made up of neat, well put together, clothes in your preferred style. How confident do you feel when wearing each outfit? Is your confidence level different?

  2. Think positively. Having negative thoughts about yourself can drain your self-confidence. When you have a negative thought about yourself, flip your focus to something more positive. For example, if you have a negative thought about not accomplishing all of your goals, try flipping the thought to focus on what you have accomplished. Write down common statements that will help you flip the negative narrative so you can refer to them when those negative thoughts appear.

  3. Speak slower. Research has shown that people with higher self-esteem talk slower than those who have lower self-esteem. How do your speech patterns reflect your confidence? Try speaking more slowly and pausing more often, this can give your words more power when you don’t rush to express yourself.

  4. Volunteer. Volunteering can raise your confidence levels in multiple ways. Volunteering can help you understand your strengths and weaknesses, and increase your skills. It can also show your work and ideas are valued by others. Most of all you gain self-confidence from giving to others.

  5. Start a healthy habit. A healthy habit such as adding in exercise or eating fruit at breakfast is an excellent way to boost your self-esteem. This is a great way to build confidence by add-in achievable goals.

  6. Focus on your body language. How does your body language reflect your level of self-confidence? Are you able to look people in the eyes? Are you able to stand up straight and walk with confidence? Try mimicking strong body language even if you’re not feeling confident. By looking more confident, you’ll start to feel this way.

  7. Make lists. Use lists as a way to you can make to help increase your confidence. Try making a list of your accomplishments. Think back and include things like rewards, ribbons, and prizes, but also take note of when you helped others, met a personal goal, or accomplished something creative.

Make a “gratitude” list. What are you grateful for in your life? What people, experiences, opportunities, or objects are meaningful to you or bring you joy? What matters to you? Make a list and reflect on the confidence you find when you see what makes you feel grateful. Post your lists somewhere where you will see them as a reminder.
